Message from the Panel Chairman

July 6, 2007:

The Royalty Review Panel has now concluded the public meeting and consultation phase of the review of Alberta’s royalty, tax and fee regimes.

On behalf of the panel members, I wish to thank everyone who attended at Grande Prairie, Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray and Medicine Hat to make a presentation or observe the proceedings. We also want to thank the Albertans who made submissions through the website, mail or via fax.

We heard from a wide variety of presenters, including interested Albertans, municipal leaders, representatives of the oil and gas industry and the service and supply sector. The panel heard and received more than 320 presentations and submissions.

Information received from all sources will be used in our review and analysis. Those sources include the public meetings, submissions to the panel, comparisons with other jurisdictions, as well as additional research. A number of trends, counter points and research was made available through the media reporting as we traveled across Alberta, and the panel will also consider that information. Transcripts and submissions have been posted on this website.

Thank you again for your interest.

Bill Hunter, Royalty Review Panel Chairman
